Overview
Spotless Air is a sanitiser for the entryway that brings the cleanroom idea into the home. It was my 2019 graduation project, before COVID-19.
The problem
Bacteria and smoke particles picked up outside get carried into the home. For babies and young children with weaker immune systems, it’s an invisible health risk. Stopping dirt at the front door felt like where home living was heading.
Design concept
- A cleanroom at the front door: ozone removes germs, making it the home’s first line of defence
- Shaped like a snake plant: modelled on the leaves of the air-purifying snake plant, it looks like a large houseplant in the entryway, not a machine
